Physical Education Major is to train specialized personnel who will master basic theories of physical education systematically, have a certain competitive sports techniques and engage in physical education later. Now there are 10 professors, more than 50 associate professors and about 2000 students. It is a main major of SIPE that consists of Sports Psychology, School Physical Education, Track and Field , Ball Games, Gymnastics, Wushu etc. After several years' exploration, an effective system for fostering students has been set up and a great number of high-quality physical education graduates have been sent. The major made great contributions to spreading and improving national physical education.

    Sports Training Major is to train professional personnel who will have a certain specialized ability of sports events and engage in teaching sports training, scientific research and management. Now there are about 10 professors and more than 50 associate professors. It consists of Sports training so as to improve the teaching quality and sports techniques. It has fostered a group of high-leveled athletes and coaches in the past years.

    Human Science of Exercises Major is to train personnel who will systematically master human science, basic theory of exercise health-keeping and rehabilitation. Now there are 6 professors and 11 associate professors. It consists of Appied Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Massage and Acupuncture, Exercise Health Keeping Rehabilitation and etc. After the development of a half-century, it has had a very suitable academic research group, prominent research achievements and distinctive characteristics of the major. In 2002, it was listed as the key discipline by the Municipal Education Bureau of Shanghai.

    Major of Traditional National Physical Culture and Sports is to train professional personnel who will engage in Wushu, traditional health-keeping and national sports. Now there are 4 professors and 11 associate professors. It consists of Chinese History of Wushu, Theories of Competitive Wushu, Traditional Health-keeping, Fundamental Traditional Chinese Medicine. The competitive level of some key sports events like Wushu, Taekwondo, Kekudo, Boxing, Judo, Wresting, Fencing is of the first-rate in our country. It has fostered many famous international and national championships. In 1998, Wushu Management Center of the General National Bureau of Physical Culture and Sports set up a Wushu Research Base here.

    Journalism Major (Sports Journalism Oriented) is to train professional personnelwho will have a certain news theory and professional technique and engage in editing sports journalism, journalist and management. Now there is 1 professor and 2 associate professors. It consists of Interviews in Sports Reporting, Introduction to Broadcasting and Television, Editing of Sports Reporting, Photographic, Techniques etc. The major adhered to the idea of "three knowledge sections, two combinations and one persistence", explored theoretical teaching and paid more attention to training students' practical ability and comprehensive quality. Now it also has a unit to confer master degree of Sports Journalism to meet the requirements from society.

    Major of Public Cause Management (Sports Industry Management Oriented) is to train professional personnel who will have modern management theory and applied ability and engage in management of running sports, management of sports administration. Now there is 1 professor and 4 associate professors. It consists of Sports Management, Management of Sports Industry, Modern Management Method etc. It has got great achievements both in teaching and in research recently which once was awarded Social Science Prize for physical Education by the General National Bureau of Physical Culture and sports, Now it has established cooperative relationship with Shanghai Bureau of Physical Culture and Sports, IMB International Management Group and German Kelon Institute of Physical Education. It gradually formed the running characteristics of walking towards the society, training ability and exercising self.

    Social Sports Major is new major to meet requirements of applied sports personnel from our society. Its main purpose is to train students who will have basic theories of sports and engage in guiding and managing social sports. Now there is 1 professor and 3 associate professors. It consists of Social Sports Sociology, Social Sports Management. It will have a bright future with quickening steps of construction of Shanghai and improvement of Mass Exercises Sports.
