 Chinese Language Program

In order to enhance foreigners’ understanding about Chinese language culture, to develop friendly relationships between China and the world at large and to provide high-quality conditions for students worldwide to study Chinese, SUS Center for International Cultural Exchange has established the office of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language which is mainly engaged in teaching Chinese both at home and abroad.

  

      I. Scope of Services

 To provide teaching services to people from all walks of life, and teach non-degree, continuing education courses and applied Chinese language courses;

 To provide services to scholars and institutions engaged in research on China.

      II. Scope of Operations

 To offer multimedia courses in Chinese;
     To carry out all kinds of training for Chinese language teacher;
     To organize and carry out research on China and the Chinese language;
     To organize exhibitions, performances and competitions to popularize the Chinese language and spread Chinese culture;
     To organize the HSK and develop other Chinese tests at the request of the learners;
     To provide consultation services for foreign students who wish to study in China.

    III. Courses and Targets

     If ten or more people come in a group, the university will set up a special class for them. Individuals will be enrolled into SUS undergraduate classes.

Elementary Course (HSK1-5)
       one academic year

To master 2000 Chinese words;
      To learn to speak for daily conversation.

Intermediate Course (HSK6-8)
       one academic year

To master 3500 Chinese words;
      To learn to speak for daily conversation;
      To read Chinese articles of 150 words with a basic understanding;
      To write an article of 400-500 Chinese words.

Advanced Course (HSK9-11)

one academic year

To master 5000 Chinese words;
      To read Chinese articles of 200 words with a basic understanding;
      To develop skills in listening, speaking and writing.
